Gary Van Der Stad, of Honesdale, PA, a longtime resident of the Cochecton, NY area, died at home on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. He was 64.

Born on May 27, 1947 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late Aaron and Kitty Koningswood Van Der Stad.

He was an auto body mechanic who was employed at Monticello Collision. He enjoyed old cars and attending car shows. Gary also was a talented craftsman who constructed model railroads.

He is survived by three children, Sherry Abel and husband Eric of Seelyville, PA, Gary Van Der Stad Jr. and wife Dawn of Waymart, PA and Kelly Rogers and husband Michael of Honesdale; grandchildren Eric Abel Jr., Erica Abel, Justine Van Der Stad, Ashley Van Der Stad, Aaron Van Der Stad, Kristie De Groat, Michael Van Der Stad and Dylan Rogers.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 30, 2011 in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, Honesdale, with the Rev. Jim Corbin officiating.

Interment was privately held at the convenience of the family.
