Harold “Lou” Rathbun of Middletown, NY, a longtime area resident and retired antique dealer, passed away at home after a long illness on Thursday, July 14, 2011.

The son of the late Oscar and Catherine O’Neill Rathbun, Lou was born in Englewood, NJ.

Lou had a love of anything old and unusual and spent countless hours restoring items and furniture to their original state. He was well known around the Middletown area.

He is survived by his wife Claudette at home; sons Louis of Callicoon, NY and Stephen of Middletown; daughters Donna of Dumont, NJ, Tina of Hillsdale, NJ and Connie of Hamburg, NJ; son Michael of Pt. Pleasant, NJ; brother Pat of Hawthorne, NJ; sister Dorothy of New Milford, NJ; grandchildren Christian of Narrowsburg, NY, Jasmine of Middletown, Daniel of Hackensack, NJ, Sarah and Coreen, both of Dumont, NJ; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his brother George; sisters Katherine and Mary; and granddaughter Andrea.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 18 at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc., Middletown. Burial followed at the Rathbun Family Plot in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Tenafly, NJ.
