Josephine Zukosky Giles died on June 1, 2011 in Hendersonville, NC. She was 90.

She was born on September 16, 1920, in Eynon, PA, the daughter of Mary and Joseph Zukauskus.

She was the wife of Rev. Dwight E. Giles Sr. They were married on June 2, 1945, in Forest City, PA.

She is survived by her husband of Hendersonville; sons Dwight Jr., of North Kingstown, RI, David of Raleigh, NC and Ronald of Hendersonville; and four granddaughters and one grandson.

“Jo” Giles was active in the churches served by her husband in Pennsylvania, New York and North Carolina, including the Beach Lake United Methodist Church in Beach Lake, PA. She taught Sunday school, and fed both the bishops and beggars who came to visit. She was also an accomplished knitter and seamstress, skills learned growing up on a farm in Pleasant Mount, PA.

Her funeral was held on Wednesday, June 8 at the Bryant Funeral Home in Honesdale, PA. Interment immediately followed the funeral at Wheeler Hill Cemetery in Pleasant Mount.
