Anne V. Brucher of Bethel, NY, a longtime area resident, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. She was 78.

The daughter of the late Anthony and Janet Canavan Volk, she was born on May 9, 1933 in New Jersey.

Anne was a member of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Mongaup Valley, NY. She was also a member of Bethel Senior Citizens, Bethel Catholic Club and the Bethel Red Hats Club.

Survivors include daughter Jean Brucher Smith and husband Hal Smith Jr. of Jeffersonville, NY; brother, Robert Volk and wife Mary Helen of Vermont; sisters Margaret Misner of Milford, NJ and Maurie Benton and her husband James of Sandy Hook, CT; grandchildren Timothy Kautz, James Kautz, Robert Kautz, Harold Smith III and Kaitlyn Smith; great-granddaughter Arianna Kautz, and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, Ernie Brucher in 1995; sister Janet Schmidt, and brother Anthony Volk.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place on Monday, May 16, at St. Joseph’s Church in Mongaup Valley. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Bethel, NY.
