Melanie Palmer, a longtime resident of the area, passed away with her husband by her side on Monday, May 2, 2011. She was 53.

She was born in England on June 11, 1957 to the late William Carpenter and Gladys Baldwin Carpenter. A family statement reads, “Melanie was a loving and caring wife. She was very artistic, from paintings to gardening. She loved living up here in the country. She loved the river and her dogs and cats. She was a real animal lover. She will greatly be missed as she was a large part of our family.”

Melanie is survived by her husband of 20 years Scott Palmer, and her mother, Gladys Carpenter.

A graveside service was held in Glen Spey Cemetery, Lumberland, NY on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 2 p.m.
