It is with deep sadness that I heard that my friend Orvie Vannatta has passed away last month. Those of us who knew him will never forget him. He was very special to me, and here is why.
My name is Bob Orsini, and my dad passed away just before Easter 1962; I was 15. As we all know, Orvie had an excavating business. One Saturday, just around Easter, here comes Orvie in one of his trucks by my driveway. He said, “Let’s spend the day together.” For that day, I had a father again, and from that time on, I have always looked up to him and would visit him whenever I would come through Narrowsburg. Orvie was one of a kind. I will miss him dearly.
