Honesdale man arrested for domestic dispute

The Honesdale Borough Police arrested Joseph BENNETT, 47 from Honesdale after a domestic assault that occurred on 07/16/2012. According to Police, BENNETT allegedly assaulted a
41 year old female at an apartment on Church Street. During the assault, BENNETT alledgedly choked and punched the female.
BENNETT also allegedly punched the female victim’s 12 year old son in the face. Both the female and her son were treated at Wayne Memorial Hospital for their injuries. BENNETT had left the scene prior to police arrival. Police obtained a warrant for BENNETT charging him with 3 counts of Simple Assault, 2 counts of Harassment and Disorderly conduct.
On 07/22/12, Honesdale Borough Police received a tip of BENNETT’s whereabouts and along with Honesdale State Police BENNETT was apprehended on Erie Street. BENNETT was arraigned by MDJ Farrell. BENNETT was incarcerated in the Wayne County Correctional Facility after failing to post $25,000 bail.
