Marijuana arrest in Liberty

June 5, 2012

On 06/04/12 Village of Liberty Police executed a search warrant on a residence located on Highview Avenue in the Village of Liberty. Village of Liberty Police in conjunction with the New York State Police had been investigating the sale of marihuana from that location.

Arrested as a result of the search warrant was an 18 year old male of Liberty, after police located almost a pound of marihuana with a street value of approximately $1,000 hidden in the residence. The 18 year old was charged with Criminal possession of marihuana in the 3rd degree, a felony and was being held at the Village of Liberty Police Department awaiting arraignment.

Street value of $1000?

How much did it cost to do the investigation and how much will it cost to run this "case" through the judicial process? If he goes to jail how much will it cost for his care and feeding?

The answer is that it is going to cost a lot more than the societal impact that 16 ounces of pot would have caused.

The only people who are benefitting from this are the police who were paid for their time and the attorney (probably paid for with YOUR tax dollars) !!!!

This is why our county is more than $15 Trillion in debt.
