August 25, 2011 —
MILFORD, PA — The BlueStone Gallery will host a new exhibit, starting August 26, titled “21st Century Multiples,” featuring the work of local artist Yanni Glykokokalos. An artist’s reception will be held at the gallery on August 27 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The exhibit will feature original collages and paintings by the artist, along with enlarged Giclee prints of the original works. The high-quality ink jet prints are the 21st century version of the historic printmaking processes.
Glykokokalos was born and raised on the island of Lesbos, Greece, where he was exposed from an early age to the rich visual, musical and mystical heritage of the Eastern Orthodox Church. After obtaining his degree in engineering in Athens, Yanni moved to New York City in 1959, where he focused on honing his artistic vision. In New York, he experienced the bohemian artistic lifestyle of the 1960s, became a part of the historic New York Abstract Expressionist Movement, and finally earned his BFA in art from the Philadelphia College of Art.
He has exhibited numerous times in New York City galleries, as well as at the United Nations.
Alongside his individual shows, Glykokokalos has exhibited in over 100 group shows and has sold over 700 paintings and drawings in the U.S., Europe, and South America.
