‘Chicago’ takes the stage in Forestburgh
August 11, 2011 —
FORESTBURGH, NY — The Forestburgh Theater Arts Center at the Forestburgh Playhouse will present “Chicago” from Tuesday, August 9 through Sunday, August 21.
Chicago takes place during the roaring ‘20s where the lead, Roxie Hart, an ambitious chorus girl, murders her lover. This leads to Roxie’s imprisonment where she joins another famous stage performer and murderess, Velma Kelly. Both Roxie and Velma are headline hunters seeking to capitalize on pre-trial publicity for the sake of acquittal and stage careers. In the end, their tricky lawyer, Billy Flynn, manages to get both Roxie and Velma free.
The current after-dinner cabaret is “The Book of Norman,” which will run through August 20. It celebrates Norman Duttweiler’s 20th season as producer of the Forestburgh Playhouse.
Show times are 8 p.m. on weekdays, with an additional 2 p.m. matinee on Wednesdays and a Sunday matinee at 3 p.m. Visit www.fbplayhouse.org or call 845/794-1194. Chicago is recommended for mature audiences.
