Lantern walk on a snowy winter’s night

Before embarking on their lantern walk, residents were treated to a reading of a story about a good prince and a not-so-good king and queen. The reading was aided by a back-lighted scroll of scenery and cardboard cutouts that were manipulated to match the telling of the tale.

NARROWSBURG, NY — About 20 area residents gathered at the Tusten-Cochecton Branch of the Sullivan West Library on December 17 in Narrowsburg, to greet the season and participate in a lantern walk to the river.

The walk was arranged by librarian Laura Moran, and started in the library with participants choosing their lanterns before walking off to the river and Veterans Park, singing Christmas carols along the way.

Once in the park, poetry was recited and memories shared in the crisp December air.
