Lake Huntington News August 29
August 28, 2013 —
What a busy weekend: down to Queens and back in the same day for my sister’s 60th birthday; had a good time seeing all of the family. My mother was really missed; she was in all of our thoughts and prayers.
On Sunday, August 25 we helped out at the Colton Kelty fundraiser at the Narrowsburg Inn. Ned Lang is an amazing person to help this family out. Personally I love helping out at these events. The Lake Huntington Red Hatters were there to show their support. Queen Mom (Dolores Manaseri) and her ladies enjoyed themselves at the barbeque/tricky tray. The Red Hatters’ next event will be toward the end of September. Their thoughts are going to Chinese buffet and the Monticello Casino. If you live in Cochecton or Narrowsburg and would like to become a Red Hatter, give Dolores a call 845/791-0590.
The Women’s Community Club of Cochecton (WCCC) would like to thank the town for supporting their yard sale. They had so much fun that they are thinking of making it an annual event. Special thanks to Dur Powell, who won the 50/50 and donated it back. FYI: WCCC is sponsoring a bus trip to Mohegan Sun Casino at Pocono Downs on October 3. The cost is $35, which includes $25 in free play and $10 food credit; so it’s like a free trip. Call Judy at 845/932-8210 for reservations or information.
St. Baldrick’s Day will be on Sunday, September 8 at the Four Corners in Eldred starting at 12 noon. Come out and see who gets their head shaved for this good cause. There will be entertainment by the SJP Band at 12 noon and also a tricky tray. If you’d like to shave your head, participate in our Line of Hope, become a vendor, make a donation, or join our conga line, register at www.stbaldricks.org/events/conga. Call 845/557-3321 for more information.
As I have said so many times when writing my column on the Sunday before Labor Day Weekend (this year on August 25), this means it’s only four months to Christmas. The Narrowsburg Ecumenical Food Pantry (NEFP), of which I am treasurer, is looking to feed about 50 families this year. So if you are doing your budget for the holidays, keep the pantry in mind. Checks should be made out to NEFP and mailed to Narrowsburg Ecumenical Food Pantry, P.O. Box 54, Narrowsburg, NY 12764. We give out complete dinners for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Have a great week and email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 845/252-3568 if you have any news.
