Winter storm warning, Sullivan County offices on normal business hours

December 26, 2012

Monticello, NY:

Sullivan County Manager David Fanslau issued the following statement: "All County Government Offices in Sullivan County will open today for normal business hours. The Commissioner of Public Safety and the Deputy Commissioner of Public Works have reported that all County roads have been treated, and that DPW is presently heading out with another round of salt.

Residents, visitors, and employees are urged to drive with caution, allowing extra travel time to arrive safely at their destination."

The Thompson Town Hall will open at 10:00 a.m. this morning to allow our clean-up crews time to clear our roadways and for the safety of our valued employees.

The Sullivan County WIC clinics in Livingston Manor and in Liberty will be cancelled for tomorrow, Thursday, December 27, 2012.

Sullivan County Manager David Fanslau issued the following statement: " The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Sullivan County from 2:00 PM today to 1:00 PM Thursday. There is a potential for five to ten inches of snow that will be heavy at times tonight, mixed with sleet and freezing rain.

I have consulted with the Commissioner of Public Safety and the Deputy Commissioner of Public Works. The storm has just started in the lower end of the county. The County offices will close at 3:30 PM today to permit employees safe travel home during daylight hours, and prior to the main impact of the storm. All appointments or clinics for tonight are canceled, and transportation is canceled for Thursday. All homebound meal recipients should use their emergency meals or Thursday.
