‘Almost, Maine’ carries on a family tradition

September 20, 2012

SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY — The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop’s (SCDW) next production, “Almost, Maine,” will be presented on Friday and Saturday, September 21, 22, 28 and 29 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, September 23 and 30 at 2 p.m. at the Rivoli Theatre, 5243 Rte. 42. The comedy comprises a series of short plays about love and loss in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. The vignettes explore the sudden thunderclap of love and the scorched earth that sometimes follows. Directing are Ed Berens, Adam Dohrenwend, Ellen Pavloff, Jim Schmidt, Harold Tighe and Bunny Woloszczak.

The show will feature the debut of a young actress, Angel Gierisch, who is third generation Community Theatre. Gierisch’s grandparents, Jim and Julia Jacobs, were active for years in the ‘50s and ‘60s and beyond in the SCDW, behind the scenes and onstage as well. Her mom, Leslie Jacobs Gierisch dabbled onstage in the ‘70s.

Admission costs $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and $7 for students (with valid ID), active military and veterans.
