Connecticut man arrested for Leaving the scene of an incident that results in death

The New York State Police in Montgomery announce the arrest of Baruch M. Emmanuel, a.k.a. Baruch Medina, age 29, of 40 Division Street, Danbury, CT for Leaving the scene of an incident that results in death (Class D Felony).
The arrest stems from an investigation into the death of Veronica Gutierrez, age 24, of 9 Lakes Road, Monroe NY. On April 8th, 2012 at 6:03 am, Gutierrez was discovered in the roadway at the Quaker Avenue exit ramp off of State Route 9W South in the Town of Cornwall. Emmanuel was arraigned at the Town of Wallkill court and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $200,000 cash bail or $400,000 secured bond.
At the arraignment, Emmanuel was additionally charged with Bail Jumping 3rd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor) which was related to a Bench Warrant for a prior DWI arrest in the Town of Goshen that occurred during 2011.
The State Police were assisted by the Town of Cornwall Police Department, The Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. The investigation is continuing.
