RAYMOND ‘BUCKY’ KOFERL

Raymond “Bucky” Koferl of Narrowsburg, NY, a lifelong resident, a retired mechanic for Sullivan Co. DPW, school bus driver, and many other endeavors, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the home of his niece, Alice Foster and husband Doug Wyss. He was 86.

The son of the late Leonard and Pearl Skinner Koferl, he was born April 28, 1925 in Narrowsburg. He was an Army veteran, a member of the American Legion Post, Eldred, NY; and a past member of Beaver Brook Rod and Gun Club.

A family statement reads: “Bucky was an avid fisherman, loved to hunt, a real outdoorsman. He really enjoyed life in Sullivan County. He was most proud of the garden that he planted every year till he took ill. He will truly be missed.”

He is survived by his children, Catherine Alva, Lorraine Myers, Jon Koferl, Raymond Koferl and Joanna Smith; sisters Eleanor Edwards, Augusta DeGraw and Rose Gallagher; brothers Jimmy Koferl and Norman Koferl; and many nieces and nephews.

Raymond is predeceased by brothers John Koferl, and Leonard Koferl; and sisters Alice Tyler, Anna Collins and Mary Koferl.

A memorial graveside service will be conducted Sunday, March 11 at Glen Cove Cemetery, Narrowsburg.
