Send Edwards to the county legislature

November 3, 2011

I'm a long-time resident of Swan Lake and an I.A.T.S.E. Local One Union member. I own a vacation rental business on Swan Lake. As a member of the Sullivan County Visitors Association, I'm glad to vote for Cora Edwards, who is a neighbor and a full-time resident of District 6. I encourage all voters who want a better county government to do the same. Edwards will grab a challenge with both hands. She is undaunted in the face of baseless criticism and will fight for what is right.

In 2005, Edwards and a group of neighbors were instrumental in defending our individual property rights and our environment at Swan Lake when others had thought it futile. A developer from Long island decided to build on Swan Lake without permits or basic storm water protections. When storms flooded Swan Lake with tons of dirt from the developer’s road construction, the Department of Environmental Conservation issued fines and a stop-work order. Without Edwards and other neighbors who pitched in, we might have lost this “bio-gem” of a lake that the American Bald Eagles call home. Edwards will bring this same determination to the challenges we face in our county. I am asking voters to join me in sending Edwards to be our voice in Sullivan County government on November 8th for the change that's long overdue.
