‘Voices of the Oboist’ at Grace Episcopal


HONESDALE, PA — Mary Raum, oboe/coloratura soprano, accompanied by Stephen Faubel on piano, will present a concert of oboe and voice repertoire entitled “Le Roseau Chantant – Voices of the Oboist” at the Grace Episcopal Church Sanctuary, 827 Church Street at 9th Street, on Saturday, January 22 at 2:00 p.m. The program will feature works by Mozart, Saint-Saëns and Schumann. This concert is presented by the Grace Church Fine Arts Committee. A suggested donation of $10 at the door will benefit the Grace Church Steinway “Series O” Piano Fund.

Raum studied neurobiology and musicology/psychomusicology at Cornell University and studied oboe with Joshua Siegel. She was English hornist with the Prince Edward Island Symphony while pursuing a doctorate of veterinary medicine in Canada, and participated in the Indian River Festival, performing with Mela Tenenbaum. She is currently a member of the International Double Reed Society and performs with the Delaware Valley Opera and Chamber Orchestra, and the Ritz Company Playhouse in Hawley. Recently, she performed a duet with oboist Gerard Reuter at the Music of Our Time concert in Narrowsburg, NY and teaches oboe privately in Kenoza Lake, NY.

Faubel studied piano at Marywood University and Penn State University’s School of Music. He performs extensively as a soloist and is highly sought after as a collaborative pianist, having recently completed a tour of the West Coast. Call 570/253-2760.
