‘Dorflinger and the Canal’

April 14, 2011

WHITE MILLS, PA — Local historian Kurt Reed will present a lecture, “Dorflinger and the Canal” on Thursday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m. in the Blough Building on the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary grounds. The presentation will celebrate the sanctuary’s recent receipt of its largest single gift in its history, the Lock Tender’s House in White Mills, built in 1850. It had been purchased and restored by Walter and Marilyn Barbe and transformed into a museum of the Delaware & Hudson Canal, who donated the building and property to the sanctuary in March.

A soup and sandwich lunch will follow. There is no charge for the lecture, but there is a fee for the lunch (members $10; non-members $12). Reservations are necessary. Email suydam@ptd.net or call 570/253-1185.
