Paul Simon’s ‘Graceland’ bassist at The Cooperage

HONESDALE, PA — Bakithi Kumalo, who is currently preparing for a 2014 tour that kicks off in February with Paul Simon and Sting, will perform at The Cooperage on Sunday, January 5 at 3 p.m. (Doors open at 2:30.)

A Grammy Award-winning bassist, composer and vocalist, Kumalo’s long list of collaborations includes working with Paul Simon (the Graceland album), Laurie Anderson, Cyndi Lauper, Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba, Herbie Hancock, Chaka Khan, Gloria Estefan, Derrick Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, Chico Ceasar, Harry Belafonte, Gerald Albright, Grover Washington Jr., Vusi Masahlela, Angelique Kidjo, Jon Secada, Josh Groban and Chris Botti and otherss.

His unique musical style reflects influences from around the world, including South African traditional folk, contemporary jazz, salsa and electronica.
