Family Fun Day boasts sled race, wing contest and discounted ski rentals

MONTICELLO, NY — The eighth annual Family Fun Day will be held on Saturday, January 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Holiday Mountain Ski & Fun Park. The day includes a cardboard sled race and wing contest that you can sign up for now. The event is sponsored by Thunder 102 and YEL! (Young Emerging Leaders), the young professional taskforce of the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce.

The cost for a family of five is $35 for lift tickets, $35 for ski rentals and $45 for snowboard rentals. The total cost for a family of five for lift tickets and ski rentals is $70. There are also special deals on group lessons and tubing. Call the chamber at 845/791-4200for more details.

Join the Chamber’s taskforce YEL for the fourth cardboard sled race during the Family Fun Day. With just tape, paint and cardboard, you can make the winning cardboard sled and receive a prize for it. The race begins at 1 p.m. and costs $15 per team/sled to register. Your team must sign up by Friday, January 17 to enter. Prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third fastest sled, and for best sled overall based on creativity and construction. Contact the chamber for rules and to register your team.

Stick around at 2:30 p.m. for the second annual Winter Wing Fling to benefit the Sullivan County Food Pantry. For only $10 you have the opportunity to sample wings from all around the county and help crown the Winter Wing Fling King or Queen, 2014. Holiday Mountain will be defending their title of 2013 Winter Wing Fling King. Participating restaurant members include Dutch’s Sports Bar & Café, Bernie’s Holiday Restaurant, Holiday Mountain and Dancing Cat Saloon. Contact the chamber for details.

A 50/50, prize raffles (one free raffle ticket with entry) and cash bar will be available. The Cardboard Sled Race award ceremony will take place at 3:30 p.m.
