ROCK HILL, NY — Two distinguished senior blues legends were honored at the second annual Sullivan County Blues Festival at the Sullivan Hotel in Rock Hill by owner Randy Resnick.
On the second day of the November 29 and 30 festival, famed guitarist Little Sammy Davis of Monticello celebrated his 85th birthday. He was presented with a huge birthday cake from the stage.
Saxophonist Hugh Brodie from Harris, who just reached 80 years of age, gave a previously unscheduled performance in tribute to Little Sammy Davis. Brodie recruited an impromptu pick-up band of some of the finest blues artists at the festival for this hour-long performance.
On both days, The Blues Festival played to large crowds. The musicians, which included gospel singer Alexis P. Suter and famed rocker Commander Cody, also included local Sullivan County blues celebrity the Slam Allen Band.
