Democratic committee endorses candidate for town justice

September 4, 2013

The Democratic Committee of the Town of Mamakating proudly endorses Cynthia Dolan for Mamakating Town Justice. It is important we all get out and vote for our candidate in the September 10th primary election to support our candidate and preserve Mamakating residents’ right to choose a town justice at the general election in November.

Her opponent is a registered Conservative who already has three party lines on the ballot for November, and has utilized the petition process to primary Cynthia for the Democratic line as well. Her opponent appears on public documents as the registered agent for one of the corporations for the developer Shalom Lamm, who is putting up the 396 homes in the Village of Bloomingburg.

Dolan is an attorney with 15 years of legal experience in state and federal courts and served as the justice for the Village of Bloomingburg. During her legal career, Cynthia has written and/or orally argued approximately 200 appeals in state and federal courts involving civil rights laws, zoning laws, municipal law, vehicle and traffic law, and article 78 proceedings. She is a former adjunct professor at Pace University School of Law where she received her law degree and taught criminal law and legal writing. She also served as a clerk in family court and holds a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education.

Dolan’s wide range of legal experience allows her to effectively weigh evidence, and to identify and resolve the legal issues brought before her. Her experience and her temperament will be an asset to the bench as our community changes and becomes more complex.

Cynthia’s family lives in Wurtsboro and maintains and rehabilitates properties in the Village. Dolan is the only town judicial candidate endorsed by the Mamakating Democratic Committee. Preserve Mamakating’s right to choose.
