Lake Huntington News May 30

May 30, 2013

What a weekend—freezing, windy and raining. Try having a yard sale for four days. We sold some of my mother’s stuff but not much. It is very sad and hard to clean out her house. Speaking of my mom’s house, it is a four-bedroom in the business district of Narrowsburg and it’s for sale. If you’re interested, email me.

On Sunday I needed a break, so I went to the St. Francis Xavier pancake breakfast and sold 50/50 tickets for three hours. I got $500—not bad for the winner, who got $250. Fr. Bill would like to thank all who worked the breakfast and all who came out to enjoy the yummy pancakes.

On Monday I wanted to get away, so my husband and I went to the Chinese restaurant in Peck’s Plaza and we were joined by Ed Jackson. We all had a nice conversation and lunch, and when I came back to Mom’s house, my brother and sister were all done cleaning—that’s great timing.

Save the date on Saturday, July 13, which will be the fifth annual Cochecton Day on the Lake along with the Lake Huntington Fire Department Family Fun day; more information to follow.

Dottie Schlegel and the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Grover Hermann division’s Mary Cadet Memorial Health and Craft Fair was held on Saturday, May 18 and was a great success thanks to everyone who came out and supported it. Your support goes a long way toward helping the hospital, and when you help the hospital that makes Dottie happy and when Dottie is happy, all is right with the world.

The rumors that the Narrowsburg United Methodist Church is closed have been greatly exaggerated. They are alive and well, and they extend a heartfelt invitation to all to attend on Sunday mornings. Their relatively new pastor is Rev. Linda Bohs, who studied at Drew University, NJ, and is currently at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. during the summer months. Services are at 8:30 a.m. They are looking to begin a Bible study group, Sunday school and choir. All are most cordially welcome to come and honor the Sabbath Day at the Narrowsburg United Methodist Church and to join their close-knit Family in Christ.

Have a great week, and email me at leeniebeans@citlink.net, or call 845/252-3568 if you have any news.
