April 17, 2013 —
On April 16th, 2013 the Honesdale Borough Police obtained an arrest warrant for Nikolas Reeder, 21 from Honesdale, for fleeing in his vehicle from a borough officer trying to conduct a traffic stop.
According to borough police, on Saturday, April 13th, at approximately 5:21 pm., a borough officer observed Reeder driving westbound on Rt. 6 near Wayne Memorial Hospital. The officer was aware that Reeder had a suspended driver’s license.
When the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle near Maple Ave, Reeder failed to stop. The officer pursued Reeder a short distance but terminated the pursuit because of Reeder’s’ disregard for other drivers on the roadway.
Reeder was arrested by PSP Honesdale on Sunday (04-14-2013) on unrelated charges and was incarcerated in the Wayne County Correctional Facility.
On April 16th, 2013 Reeder was afforded a preliminary arraignment before Magistrate Bonnie Carney. He was charged with Fleeing and Eluding Police, graded as a felony of the 3rd degree, Recklessly endangering another person, graded as a misdemeanor, and several summary vehicle code violations.
After failing to post $5,000.00 bail Reeder was returned to the Wayne County Correctional Facility awaiting central court scheduled on April 24th, 2013.
