Local residents stuff a truck for victims of Sandy
November 28, 2012 —
Residents of the Honesdale area outdid themselves and sent a giant truck full of emergency supplies to the victims of Hurricane Sandy in Staten Island.
The truck and driver were donated by Eric Linde, owner of Leeward Construction.
In conjunction with Jim Reinhardt of the Wayne/Monroe Red Cross, the truck was directed to a distribution center in the devastated area in order to aid families in need.
On November 17 and 18 at Dave’s Super Duper market at 200 Willow Avenue in Honesdale, donations poured in during the two days to fill the 16-wheeler that was parked in the store’s parking lot.
Items included cleaning supplies such as bleach, mops, buckets, rubber gloves, garbage bags and baby products. Also, items for children were included to help keep the youngsters occupied.
