SWAN LAKE, NY — A four-year-old who was pulled from a swimming pool in about two feet of water died at Westchester Medical Center on July 11. Shimon Weiz, who lived in Brooklyn, had wandered away from his family in a bungalow colony, and was lifted from the pool by his father just a few minutes after he left.

Initially, CPR was performed on the child, and his heart was still beating when he was taken to Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris before being flown to Westchester.

The incident is being investigated as a possible case of negligence; the cover of the pool had been removed the previous day, and other measures that could have been taken to keep young children out of the pool were not taken.
