MT. TREMPER, NY — Hunting in the Catskills will be the topic for the kick-off of the “Second Saturday” program at the Maurice D. Hinchey Catskill Interpretive Center (CIC) on November 14 at 1 p.m. at 5096 Rte. 28. The first presentation will feature Charles “Sonny” Somelofski, a New York State licensed guide and well-known outdoors expert, who will lead the conversation on the hunting tradition, its heritage and what you need to know to enjoy hunting in the Catskills today.
Somelofski will discuss which species can be hunted, and all requirements for hunting in New York including hunter education and safety courses, licenses, maps, permitting and obtaining access to NY Department of Environmental and New York City Department of Environmental Preservation lands.
