WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Sen. Bob Casey on August 7 announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded $203,660 to the Lackawaxen Township Fire Commission in Pike County for hiring as part of the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Program.
“Pennsylvania’s firefighters endure risk and sacrifice every day to keep their community safe,” said Sen. Casey. “This money will help the Lackawaxen Township Fire Commission recruit and maintain skilled first responders to ensure the safety of the city, its residents, and its visitors.”
Funds are awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program (AFG), which aims to strengthen the health and safety of the nation’s first responders and those they serve.
