Race and parade in Narrowburg

NARROWSBURG, NY — It was a very good showing for the First Annual Windy Kilt 5K marathon run through the streets of Narrowsburg on March 15. Ned Lang, a member of the town council and one of the organizers, said the event attracted some 80 runners to the rural hamlet.

That raised about $10,000, which was donated to the Narrowsburg Volunteer Ambulance Service and Sullivan County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). The course was about three miles long, and started at the Narrowsburg Inn and wound through the town, along the river and back to the inn.

After the run, the St. Patrick’s Day parade kicked off at about 1 p.m. There were lots of fire trucks and emergency vehicles on parade, and lots of people cheering them on from the sidelines. Lang said, “Narrowsburg is having some fun today.”
