HARRISBURG, PA — State Sen. Rob Teplitz announced on November 3 that residents in need of home heating assistance can now apply for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
The federally funded LIHEAP offers assistance in the form of a cash grant, sent directly to the utility company.
“The LIHEAP program has provided valuable relief to many families struggling to pay their heating bills,” said Teplitz. “No family should be left in the cold, and that’s why I encourage anyone who is having trouble with their utility bills to take advantage of this reliable and valuable program.”
Grants are based on household income limits: $17,505 for an individual homeowner or renter, or $35,775 for a family of four. In addition to proof of income and household size, applicants must provide a recent heating bill.
