HONESDALE, PA — Dyllon Fillebrown on July 17 was recognized by the Wayne County Commissioners for his first-place finish in the recent qualification meet for the state-wide Hershey Track and Field competition. The 14-year-old Wayne Highlands freshman ran a 5:18.03 mile to qualify for the state competition among 13- and 14-year-olds. Dyllon is the son of Melissa and David Fillebrown.

Also at the July 10 meeting, upon the recommendation of the Wayne County Historical Society, the commissioners appointed long-time Wayne County journalist and editor Peter Becker as county historian. Becker succeeds former historian, Richard Eldridge, who passed away earlier this year. Commissioner Wendell Kay noted that Becker joins a line of distinguished past county historians including Dr. Vernon Leslie. “We’re very happy with the recommendation,” he said.
