Ruffalo’s new film to screen in Callicoon

CALLICOON, NY — The newest film from actor Mark Ruffalo, “Begin Again”, will have a special screening at the Callicoon Movie Theater running from Friday, July 25 through Thursday July 31.
Ruffalo, who is a resident of Callicoon and has a high-profile role in the battle against fracking, plays a disgraced record label executive in a love story that is drawing positive reviews.
Peter Travers in Rolling Stone writes, “It’s the summer sweet spot by breezing in on waves of humor, heartache and ravishing romance. And irresistible music you can’t get out of your head,” and he adds, “It’s rare to find a movie that uses music to define love without sentimentalizing it. But “Begin Again,” with songs by Glen Hansard and New Radicals front-man Gregg Alexander, is a wonderfully appealing exception. Mark Ruffalo and Keira Knightley perform subtle magic.”
In Vulture, David Edelstein writes, “‘Begin Again’is very funny, mostly because Ruffalo makes such an adorably rumpled drunken [jerk]. Swilling booze while driving through Manhattan and wincing at bad demo tapes, he reminded me of Alan Bates’s immortal misanthrope, Butley.”
