Tornado warning in Sullivan County

Posted

Town of Bethel, NY — The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for a large swath of Sullivan County on the afternoon of July 13.

While no tornado was officially declared, strong winds in the area of suspected tornadic activity took down a number of mature trees at a property on Jim Stephenson Road a few miles north of Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.

Addressing a recent tornado in Madison County, Gov. Andrew Cuomo noted last week that weather in the state was changing, with severe weather occurring more often. He noted there have been 11 weather-related states of emergency in New York since he took office.
