HONESDALE, PA — Wayne County Commissioners Wendell Kay and Brian Smith on June 19 joined in proclaiming June and July respectively as dairy month and ice cream month.

They were joined by the 2014 Wayne County Dairy Princess and her court. Seated from the left are Dairy Maid Abby Hynes, Dairy Princess Zoe Buckingham, and Dairy Maids Brea Rutledge and Paige Gill.

According to the proclamation, 65 active Wayne dairy farms produce 92 million pounds of milk annually, generating $20.3 million in income, of which 85% stays in Wayne County.
