COCHECTON, NY — A design workshop focused on improving river access to the Delaware River in Sullivan County will be held at the Cochecton Town Hall, 74 Smales Rd., on Thursday, February 27 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. A project presentation will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The river access points are Long Eddy, Callicoon, Skinners Falls, Ten Mile River, Barryville and Pond Eddy.

Heather Jacksy of the Sullivan County Division of Planning and Environmental Management said, “The goal is to improve and enhance existing river access points. Your thoughts and perspectives can help assure that the improvements are meaningful and realistic.”

At the workshop, the public can give input for educational/interpretive elements at each site, see background materials/site information/design requirements, and give input on site designs. Design team members will be available for discussion. The final presentation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. will present findings, ideas and initial concepts. There will be a team for each access site available to talk to and give information.

Jacksy said that the project is still in the planning stage and the presentation of design concepts is not final, and that the design team will use the public input to make modifications. The following day there will be a steering committee meeting to go over the ideas from the public.

“We encourage people to come out to the open house because it’s important that we get as many perspectives and as much help as possible to make sure the communities are getting what they want and what they feel is right for the site,” Jacksy said.
