Roscoe Beer gets brewer’s permit

December 4, 2013

After a long wait, Roscoe Beer Company has announced the approval of its brewer’s permit, along with plans for expansion. The company can now begin to plan to build a larger brewery either at its 145 Rockland Rd. location or another location in Roscoe. The company also plans new brews with input from members of their home brewers club.

The federal approval for the brewing license was granted to the budding craft beer company in September, and they just received their New York State Liquor Authority (NYSLA) license. With that, Roscoe Beer Company can now brew up to 60,000 barrels a year, as well as sell the beer in its retail location. Additionally, it was also approved as a farm brewer, which allows it to sell its product at farmers’ markets, providing their ingredients are sourced from New York.

“We are ready to get off the ground running,” said Tera Luty, the company’s beer manager. “Unlike many other micro brewers that are starting up, the Roscoe group is taking it a step further by really going small. Initial brews will be developed in a SABCO Brew Magic system that produces batches in one-barrel quantities, which is approximately 31 gallons.”
