Potosek named county manager

MONTICELLO, NY — Josh Potosek, who has been serving as acting county manager since David Fanslau left the position in February of this year, has been named permanent county manager. The announcement was made on November 22, at a press conference called by Scott Samuelson.

Samuelson said the decision to appoint Potosek to the position after considering several candidates was unanimous among the nine legislators. Samuelson said that county staff had reported that Potosek is “accessible, patient, thoughtful, a strong leader and has great integrity.” Samuelson said that lawmakers found him to be “informative, responsive and clear” when relating to members of the board.

Potosek said, “With the prospect of Class Three Gaming coming to the county, and the other projects such as the Apollo and Kutsher’s redevelopment moving forward, it is truly a promising time for Sullivan County.”

Fanslau, the former county manager, was ousted in February, when the legislature was split over his tenure. His ouster required a change to the county charter.
