Sullivan County Human Rights Commission urges passage of ENDA

Posted

The Sullivan County Human Rights Commission has issued the following statement: “We are pleased that the U.S. Senate passed the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) that will provide basic protections against workplace discrimination to LGBT people. However, we are concerned that the House of Representatives will not get enough votes to make this important bill into the law of the land. The Human Rights Campaign has been working toward this moment for nearly two decades.

“ENDA is crucial to keeping LGBT people secure in their jobs. If it fails, gay, lesbian and bisexual people will still be at risk of being fired or denied employment in 29 states just because of who they are (33 states for transgender people). There is too much at stake to sit this one out and we urge your readers to contact their representative and ask them to vote “yes” on ENDA. To contact the House of Representatives call 202/224-3121.”
