MONTOUR FALLS, NY — For the 19th consecutive year Sullivan County Firefighters traveled to the New York State Fire Academy in Montour Falls to attend five different training classes.

These classes included Line of Duty Death, The Firefighters guide to Lightweight Wood Construction, Firefighter Skills Refresher with Live Fire, Flammable and Combustible Liquid Emergencies and Fire Alarm Workshop.

The firefighters came from 22 fire departments: Bloomingburg, Callicoon, Fallsburg, Grahamsville, Highland Lake, Hortonville, Hurleyville, Jeffersonville, Kauneonga Lake, Lake Huntington, Lava, Liberty, Lumberland, Monticello, Narrowsburg, Rock Hill, Roscoe, Summitville, White Lake, White Sulphur Springs, Wurtsboro and Yulan.

This was an opportunity for firefighters to take classes not normally taught at the Sullivan County training center. The two days of intensive training were well received by the firefighters participating in the classroom and hands-on activities.

The fellowship of the firefighters was quite evident as students and instructors exchanged thoughts, ideas and opinions on the training received throughout the weekend during meals and evening social time.
