Dr. Carlos Rueda, chairman and medical director for the psychiatry department of GHVHS could barely contain his joy after the ribbon cutting. “I am very happy. This unit now meets all standards put out by the state, federal government and the joint commission that certifies hospitals. The patients will be more comfortable in a healing environment. It is calmer and quieter; it’s a more pleasant environment that will promote the dignity that every patient deserves.”

“This is a place that promotes healing,” said Dr. Galarneau. “This is one of many steps we’re going to take. Stay tuned because this is going to be an exciting two or three years.”
