Demonstration against Obama

Posted

Drivers passing by or pulling into the ShopRite Plaza on Route 52 in Liberty on October 12, probably couldn’t help but notice two demonstrators who had set up shop at the entrance to the plaza.

The display, set up by Trevor Montavon and Chris Sayer, featured a demure American flag and large photos of President Barack Obama sporting a Hitler-style mustache, and emblazoned with the word “impeach.”

Sayer said the point of the demonstration was to promote Obama’s impeachment as well as the re-adoption of the Glass-Steagall Act. Glass-Steagall, which was repealed in 1999, prevented banks from using commercial deposits to invest in the derivatives market.

One bit of literature on the table read, “Wall Street intends to kill millions of Americans with hyperinflation.” The thrust of the message was that too many politicians on both sides of the aisle are “in bed with Wall Street and the global banks.”

Sayer said the two represented the Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee. Wikimedia says, “LaRouche was a presidential candidate eight times between 1976 and 2004, running once for his own U.S. Labor Party, and campaigning seven times for the Democratic Party nomination. He was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in 1988 for conspiracy to commit mail fraud and tax code violations, and was released in 1994 on parole.”
