The 85th annual Sullivan County Volunteer Firefighters Association (SCVFA) parade will be in Narrowsburg this year on Saturday, September 28 at 2 p.m. The parade is hosted by the Narrowsburg Fire Department, and 2013 marks the 111th year of community service for the department. The SCVFA parade returns to Narrowsburg for the first time in nearly 40 years.

The day of events will include judging from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, parade lineup at 1 p.m., and the parade begins at 2 p.m. The parade route is the same as the Fourth of July parade, from Bridge Street to Main Street to Erie Avenue. There is no parking on Bridge and Main streets. The deck of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) will serve as the grandstand. Inside the DVAA will be the exhibit titled “Volunteer Firefighters: Heroes Among Us.” The show, created by Ellen Bay and John Dzwonar, will hold its closing reception from 4 to 6 p.m.

After the parade there will be free hot dogs and soda and a celebration at Lander’s Field.
