Monticello residents arrested for heroin

Posted

Monticello police arrested Stacey Cruz, 25, and Jamil Fasenntao, 27, both of Monticello on July 13. They were charged with drug possession related charges.

Monticello officers stopped Cruz on Washington Street while she was operating a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. Officers stopped her because they had prior knowledge that she had a suspended driver license with five active suspensions.

Cruz was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. When officers interviewed her passenger, Jamil Fasenntao, he was observed tossing a bag containing three decks of heroin into the grass next to the vehicle. Fasenntao was then arrested.

Upon further investigation at the Monticello police station, officers found that Cruz was in possession of 23 decks of heroin, which she had hidden in her shoes. Cruz and Fasenntao were both arraigned before acting Village of Monticello Justice Martin Miller. Cruz was remanded to the Sullivan County jail without bail. Fasenntao was remanded on $1,500 pending further court action.
