PA budget and expanded Medicaid

The election for the next governor is in 2014, and the signs are that the public is not pleased with Corbett’s performance. According to a poll by Quinnipiac University on June 7, “U.S. Representative Allyson Schwartz leads a pack of largely unknown Democratic challengers and tops Republican Gov. Tom Corbett 45% to 35%.”

Representative Mike Peifer, who represents Honesdale, Hawley and surrounding areas, said that as a member of the appropriations committee, he voted in favor of the proposed Republican budget. He sent an email to supporters saying the bill would “allocate funding for more than 300 new state troopers; add $7.2 million to the department of health to restore funding for health disease line items such as diabetes programs, epilepsy support, ALS support services and bio-technology research; and allocate $4 million in funding for county conservation districts.”
