The Liberty Central School District Board of Education unanimously approved the selection of Scott Brown as the new principal of the Liberty Elementary School at the Board of Education meeting on May 7. Brown will replace long-time principal Jeri Finnegan, who will retire in June.
Brown comes to the position with seven years of experience as an elementary school principal in the Marlboro Central School District.
In addition to his duties as principal, Brown served as a member of one of five teams that helped develop the new Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) process on the state level. “A huge piece of the APPR is the time it takes,” explained Brown. “Modifying the process so that it is as efficient as possible was an important piece of the development phase.”
Brown also developed a new curriculum and teacher training programs for the newly implemented Common Core Learning Standards and introduced the Olweus Anti-Bullying Program during his tenure as principal at Marlboro Elementary School.
