Shohola man arrested for burglary of Barryville diner

Daniel Hipsman, 21, of Shohola, PA was arrested on February 2 on petit larceny and criminal mischief charges by Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputies. Hipsman admitted to breaking into the Towne Diner in Barryville on January 23, and stealing approximately $40 dollars in cash.

Hipsman was arraigned before Justice Anthony LaRuffa and sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $35,000 bail.

Deputies are working with other police agencies to investigate the recent series of burglaries in the Town of Highland area. According to reports, the Towne Diner has been hit a total of three times in the past two months, as well as St. Anthony’s Church in Yulan and St. Ann’s Church just over the bridge in Shohola.
