Grady resigns as road master; Damascus supervisor will remain as road worker

Charles (Chuck) Grady, a supervisor in Damascus Township, resigned from his position as roadmaster but will remain a member of the township’s road crew. In Pennsylvania, a supervisor can also be the township’s roadmaster.

He will also remain as a supervisor.

At a special meeting on January 14, the supervisors discussed what his status would be. The reason for his resignation was still not known.

At the meeting on January 21, after an executive session on personnel, the supervisors announced that three township employees, who had been suspended, had been exonerated and would return as employees in good standing. It was not announced who the three were or why they had been suspended.

A motion was made to reinstate the employees provided they continue to meet the conditions and regulations of their positions. When asked who the employees were, Jeff Dexter, chairman of the township supervisors, said that the issues discussed were between the board and those individuals and that it was not public information.

According to Pennsylvania law, municipal officials do not have to reveal what happened in an executive session.

In other news, the supervisors set a five-day work week for the road crews between October 1 and March 10 with hours from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
