Sullivan County Manager Joshua Potosek has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 10:00 PM Tuesday evening through 7:00 PM Wednesday evening.

Potosek said, “The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Winter Storm Warning with the heaviest snow and highest impacts expected between 3 am and 10 am Wednesday, 1 to 2 inches of snow per hour will be possible for a few hours in the above time frame. This could cripple travel, especially for the Wednesday morning commute. Heavier snow tapers to light to moderate snow Wednesday afternoon and steady snow tapers to snow showers Wednesday evening.”

During the storm all County residents are urged to remain indoors and off roadways whenever possible. If residents must drive, they are advised to exercise extreme caution when driving through this storm.

Sullivan County officials are taking appropriate action, to ensure all precautionary measures are being taken, and implementing contingency plans to respond to the demands of the storm. County officials will remain in contact with the towns, village and volunteer first-responders throughout the storm, as they monitor the situations in their own communities.

Residents and visitors are urged to visit the County website, www.co.sullivan.ny.us, for current news and information. Also, please keep checking the NWS Binghamton website for updates as well as local news outlets for local closings.

County Offices, other than 24 hour facilities, will be opening tomorrow at 11:00 AM due to impacts from the anticipated snow storm.
