River walk hearing scheduled

Posted

There will be a public hearing on a proposed design for the Town of Tusten’s proposed Riverfront Walk/Big Eddy Waterfront Revitalization project on Wednesday, November 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the Tusten Town Hall on Bridge Street.

The hearing will be an opportunity for the public to voice their comments regarding the design of the project, a copy of which is now viewable in the window of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance on Main Street. Based on a cascade of landscaped terracing originally envisioned by architect Joe Levine, a resident of Milanville, PA and NYC, the proposed design would create a riverside park that would include enhancements to the current gazebo area and overlook areas and a pedestrian walk near the river connecting the two, providing public spaces to walk and congregate near the Big Eddy of the Delaware River.

The terracing would also help restore and stabilize a river bank that has suffered from chronic erosion problems.

The hearing itself will start at 6:30 p.m., but representatives of the Chazen Companies, the engineering company that received the contract for the project, will be available between 6 and 6:40 p.m. to display the proposed phases of the design.
